Growing up in Kitty Hawk, N.C., Matt Beacham's wave-riding father first inspired his love of surfing, pushing him into his first wave at age seven. Matt soon made his mark as an Outer Banks phenom and is hailed as one of the standouts on the East Coast surf scene that has produced so many top professionals (including a couple recent world champions), and his powerful, explosive surfing skills have been highlighted in bucket-loads of surf videos. When asked about surfing professionally, he says, "It's a total blessing that means I get to spend time enjoying God's creation."
Now living in Southern California, Matt is concentrating on contests and photo and video trips. This year, he intends to enjoy his taste for avocados, his marriage, his faith, and maybe another trip or two to Indo with his buddies.
